"You Have Saved Us All"
To be perfectly honest, I'm basically a sobbing mess for most of this movie. But this moment really gets to me. Just hearing the music is enough to give me this swell of overwhelming pride. Mulan has been struggling the whole movie, and she's expecting once again to be reprimanded. And instead, she finally gets the honor that she deserves.
"I'm not afraid anymore!"
I saw this when I was pretty young, and it really made an impression on me. Serena went from someone scared and insecure, to someone brave, surrounded by friends that love her. They all rely on each other, and fight with love. It's so beautiful and empowering and the more I think about it the more I sob.
"Justice!"
This scene is so horrifying. The way the crowd so easily slides from celebration to cruelty is unfortunately a very realistic depiction of human behavior. It can be very difficult to be the first person to stand up, even when someone is crying out for help. Even Phoebus THE KNIGHT and arguably the most qualified person to protect Quasimodo pauses and ultimately doesn't help. Esmeralda is brave enough to do so, despite the sway of the crowd and the personal risk. She's a true role model.
Tokyo Godfathers
This is sort of where I start laugh-crying in this movie. It's about three homeless people who find a baby dumped in the garbage. It turns out that the baby was stolen by a woman who's lost touch with reality. She abandoned the baby, and then got it back. It's a really funny, heartwarming Christmas movie, I promise.
Return of the Joker
Who on earth thought that this was appropriate for children? Robin gets abducted and tortured by the Joker. THIS IS SO MESSED UP. I'm pretty sure I'm forever going to be traumatized by this movie.
