A couple days ago, a new trailer for Rise of the Tomb Raider was released and it contains new music from Karen O (Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs). And when I first found this out, I didn't know what to think. Actually, I did. This is exactly what I thought:
And without watching the trailer, it's totally hard to grasp how Karen O's musical background would help improve the quality of a video game trailer. But after watching it, my thoughts went from "oh weird" to "oh man, that's awesome".
The latest story trailer (above) feels a lot like an actual movie trailer instead of a video game trailer that showcases both gameplay and cutscenes. The snippets of Karen O's song (titled I Shall Rise) fits perfectly within the realm of the game.
It almost sounds as if it's Lara Croft's inner monologue. Or maybe when she goes to raid tombs in this game, she has an iPod that's constantly playing this song (and other songs on the soundtrack). And to be 100% full success, honest with you, it made me really excited for the full game.
I really enjoyed the first game in this new rebooted Tomb Raider world and it looks like they're going to improve upon the first game a lot. Especially in terms of story. Now all I got to do is save up for an Xbox One (since the game will be exclusive to that system before jumping to PS4) so I can play it as soon as it comes out.
Rise of the Tomb Raider will be in stores on November 10th, 2015 exclusively on Xbox One.
[NOTE: I've left the full Karen O song for you below if you want to listen to the song in full without all the talky parts interrupting it.]
