It’s the dawn of a new era on Twitter. As of today, you will no longer be able to click on a familiar friendly star icon to “favorite” a tweet.
That's right, Twitter has completely removed your option to favorite tweets.
Product manager Akarshan Kumar says the shift helps invite new users into the fold and can be easily understood no matter the Twitter enthusiast’s background.
We want to make Twitter easier and more rewarding to use, and we know that at times the star could be confusing, especially to newcomers,"
"The heart, in contrast, is a universal symbol that resonates across languages, cultures, and time zones," said Kumar.
While many used the "favorite" button as a way to show love to something that they wanted to acknowledge without running it across their timeline, I used it as a reference point to save important information.
Time will tell if fans buy into the new system, but what do you think? Do you think that Twitter is making a mistake by getting rid of favorites?
