How To Make 계란찜 Gyeran Jjim: Korean Steamed Egg

When I visited Korea, my friend showed me how to make the most delicious, easy snack in the world – Gyeran Jjim, or steamed egg! You'll love this recipe – perfect for cooking in your dorm room, or when you're in a time crunch but want a satisfying meal.

I like it because well, I love eggs ^.^ and also, I really like snacks that have lots of protein in them, because they keep me satisfied for longer.

Here are a couple different ways to make Gyeran Jjim at home yourself. I prefer the microwave method, because it's the easiest and fastest!

Microwave Method: Quick and Easy

1. Beat 2 eggs in a ceramic mug or small microwaveable bowl.

2. Season with a bit of salt, and really anything else you like – a splash of soy sauce, fish sauce, or salted shrimp sauce does nicely for flavoring. Chopped green onions, crab meat, shrimp, mushrooms, onions, zucchini, carrots, and sesame seeds are all wonderful traditional toppings!

3. Add about 1/3 cup water and stir well. Cover mug with cling wrap, and poke a few holes in the top to allow steam to escape. Microwave on high for 2 minutes.
