Konami Developing a Bespoke Prosthetic Limb for Amputee Gamer

It looks like Konami is going to be working with a leading prosthesis artist, Sophie De Oliveira Barata, and some robotics experts in order to make a prosthetic limb for gamer, James Young. One of the amazing things about this news is that it's totally inspired by Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

Young lost his arm in an accident but he had taught himself how to continue to play video games with one arm and it seems like Konami and The Alternative Limb Project want to give Young the ability to play games with two hands again.

Konami hasn't released too many details about the project (which is now being called The Phantom Limb Project) but they have announced that they plan on documenting the whole journey and releasing it as a 3-part series.

It seems like everyone involved with the project has their work cut out for them because -- from what I understand (which is very little) -- making a robotic arm that can articulate its fingers and have the same dexterity as a human hand already sounds like a Herculean task.

I honestly hope that everything works out for Young. Not only will it be a heartwarming story, it'll be a great technological advancement. Hopefully, if everything turns out to be successful, the technology used to make a robotic arm for amputees will be made easily available to others in the field.

i did all that i could.
