"Btooom" Anime to Watch!~

Genre: Action, Psychological, Sci-Fi, Seinen, Game

In the blink of the mind's eye, Ryouta Sakamoto suddenly finds himself transported from playing the hit Btoom! video game to being stranded on a mysterious island, equipped with a day's worth of provisions, a bag of bombs, a strange crystal embedded in his left hand and a huge gaping hole in his memory. But it doesn't take long to figure out what's going on, especially after the first person Ryouta meets tries to kill him. Someone is attempting to recreate the ultra-violent Btoom! game in real life, and the island has been filled with an army of other unwilling players, each armed with one of the multiple variants of explosive weapons called BIM. Fortunately, Ryouta's an ace Btoom! player, but this insane version of the game has no reset switch or second lives, and there's only one way off the island: kill seven other people before they can kill you! Can Ryouta repurpose his game based skills fast enough to survive?

Status: Completed (12 Episodes)

The story is nothing new. Is another survival/gaming anime like SAO, .hack or Log Horizon. However it does have a different feeling compared to the others. This time, the game becomes real-life rather than life becoming a game. The plot is decent but once again, the anime is too rushed which I hate but it is still enjoyable. Btooom! is the name of an online game where people only fight with different types of bombs. No swords, no guns, only bombs which I think it was very interesting as the strategy is very different from what we're used to see in gaming animes.

It has many characters but as the anime was rushed, it only focuses on Ryota and Himiko. Ryota is this unemployed guy who's super arrogant and it's the best Btoom! player in Japan. Himiko is just a typical school girl who likes playing games, also a Btoom! player. This has to be the least intriguing area of the anime. Both protagonists are fine with good chemistry between them and some backstory. Unfortunately, the anime is rushed which doesn't leave any room for other characters. There's also little character development. However, the story between Ryota and Himiko is what shines in the anime and kinda saves it from being bad all together.

The voice acting is pretty good (unless you watch the dubbed version). The ambiance music did a great job to emphasize the situation the characters were in. But the openings are what killed me here. Both openings are by Nano and it's no secret I love Nano's music. Her strong and aggressive voice just makes any song epic and will get you pumped. In the sound department, Btooom! did an amazing job. Unfortunately, the music outclasses the anime but if that will help you enjoy the anime more (like it did to me), good for you!

-Reasons to Watch-

Yes the anime is rushed which makes it less detailed, but that doesn't mean the anime is bad. Even though it's nothing new, I loved the fact that they changed the way the genre was delivered by bringing the game into real-life. The story is good enough to not disappoint any anime lover. Also, to fight a war with bombs only is another unique feature that intrigued me. But that's not the only type of weapons they have. The players also have some different abilities which makes the anime even more enjoyable. Lastly, the music! In my opinion, the music is what defines the anime, just listen to them.

I really did end up enjoying Btooom! a lot but I also did want some more details into it. For those who have watched Btooom! What is your opinion on it? Good or Bad?

Hope You Enjoy!~
