"Boys Over Flowers" (K-Drama Review)

Hardworking Geum Jan Di (Ku Hye-sun) attends the exclusive Shinhwa High School by a scholarship she gets because of an incident. She finds her shallow, privileged classmates unbearable, especially the notorious F4. Rich, handsome, and arrogant, Gu Jun Pyo (Lee Min-ho), So Yi Jung (Kim Bum), and Song Woo Bin (Kim Joon) are the kings of the school and no one, not even the teachers, dare challenge them. No one, that is, except Jan Di. Angry at their rudeness, Jan Di tells off F4's leader Jun Pyo, bringing a world of trouble upon herself. The proud and persistent Jun Pyo falls hard for feisty Jan Di, but she shares a connection with the quiet, sensitive Ji Hoo. Through Jan Di's encouragement, Ji Hoo goes abroad to join his model girlfriend Min Seo-hyun, and in his absence, Jan Di and Jun Pyo grow closer. Jun Pyo and Jan Di slowly begin to fall in love. Soon Jan Di realizes that it is Jun Pyo that she truly loves, not Ji Hoo. But numerous difficulties arise, threatening their relationship. Jun Pyo's mother, a cruel and selfish businesswoman, who is also the President of Shinhwa group, disapproves of Jan Di's lowly upbringing and tries her best to split them up. And newly single Ji Hoo returns to Korea, prepared to declare his feelings for Jan Di. Many obstacles in their relationship, but there is also true love blossoming between these two young hearts Jun-pyo & Jan-di. Will their love survive?

I hated Ji Hoo's hair in this show in the beginning then he became serious towards Jan Di and cut his hair a bit shorter. Then I was happy but I still liked Jun Pyo more than Ji Hoo since the beginning. Ji Hoo is way to nice but Jun Pyo protects and grows to care for Jan Di so much more and I don't get second lead syndrome.

This was my first Lee Min Ho and my 2nd kdrama. I love how persistent Jun Pyo was towards Jan Di, he tricks her into kissing him by faking to drown which is funny and Jun Pyo's reaction after she kisses him is perfect. These two are cute but I think they could've found a better actress to play Jan Di.

I absolutely loved this show. I love the stereotypical Rich Guy /Poor Girl element in kdramas because it shows that someone snobby and rich can change to grow because of a poor girl. He changes a lot. He complains a lot in the beginning, acting all high and mighty because he has money but when he meets Jan Di, he likes how different she is and slowly changes to a nice guy and Jan Di falls for that not the violin playing, nice guy Ji Hoo. This show was very funny and enjoyable to watch. I never got bored of it!

9.5/10 - The female lead needs to learn how to kiss because she had a stiff face whenever she kissed Jun Pyo and it wasn't cute. But I would've given it a perfect ten if she kissed better because it felt like they had no chemistry together because of the kiss scenes. @kpopandkimchi@poojas@sherrysahar@netchtiBates@SeoInHan@russelroche47@Priscilla@JamiMilsap@JustinaNguyen@sosoaloraine23@Valerie816@TLeahEdwards@kskatie82@luna1171@petname83@Kamiamon@hyunsaeng638@merryjayne13@humairaa
