Materials
For this project, you will need:
-- Wine corks (a whole lot)
-- Hot-glue gun and glue sticks
-- Paper or foam cone (if you want a big tree, you can use two foam cones)
-- Ribbon
-- Battery-powered string of lights
You can find most of these items at a craft store.
Start gluing on corks
If you want to make a big tree, glue a foam cone on top of the bottom one (make sure to cut the tag off). Then, use the hot-glue gun to start gluing corks around the foam cone, as shown in the picture above. Let the glue dry completely.
Insert string of lights
Once you have glued on one layer of corks, weave the string of lights through the corks on your Christmas tree to add some flair to the tree.
Glue another layer of corks
Use the hot-glue gun to attach another layer of corks to the outside of the first layer. Glue these corks at an angle, as shown in the picture, to keep the string of lights in and to cover up the wire. Let the glue dry completely.
Attach the ribbon
To add some extra flair to your wine cork Christmas tree, take a string of ribbon and wrap it around the tree in a diagonal fashion until it reaches the top of the tree. Then, make a small star with the ribbon and glue it to the top of the tree. Let the glue dry completely.
