Horizon: Zero Dawn Has Me Hype for Hunting Robo-Dinosaurs

I'm not very good at keeping up with games. So when a friend of mine sent me this trailer earlier today, I nearly lost my gourd. Like, my gourd was on my desk when I last saw it then I flailed a whole bunch and then it was almost gone. Luckily, I found it under my chair. [It has been 2 days since you last lost your gourd] And there's nothing more exciting than running around a post-apocalyptic wasteland trying to fight a bunch of robot dinosaurs.

I didn't really know what to expect from this trailer or this game. I'm not even entirely sure what it's about -- although, I do know that surviving is a pretty big element -- but I'm still super excited for this game's release. It reminds me a bit of the old Monster Hunter games. Fighting creatures bigger than you and trying your best to succeed with less-than-stellar weaponry is something that always gets me pumped in video games.

After watching the trailer, I couldn't get over the size and scope of everything on screen. You got your little robo-dinosaurs and then you got your big ones and they seem to have mouths and heads and legs. But one of the most interesting things about this trailer to me is the way that the main character talks to the robots.

Usually in video games we are to assume that the robots are cold, heartless, and lifeless. That they've been programmed to do one thing. But she apologizes to one of the little robo-dinosaurs after killing one. It's like she treats the robots, the pieces of metal and electric wiring as living beings.

And I'm so interested in why the world is like it is.

Horizon: Zero Dawn will be out sometime in 2016.

i did all that i could.
