As we all know, football is a very dangerous sport and players are consistently battling injuries after injuries.
Former NFL player, Nate Jackson reminds us about the effects of playing football, that "a human body was not made to absorb that kind of punishment." He goes on to saying,
“There’s no safe way to get hit by a truck.”
Also, more than seven out of ten players who used painkillers during their professional career went on to actually abuse them after their career was over.
Thus, Nate Jackson and a group of former NFL players are lobbying the NFL to change its policies and offer an alternative.
They pass the test and rely on it for the rest of the season.
Commissioner Goodell has already expressed an openness to the idea. He said, “We will follow medicine and if they determine this could be a proper usage in any context, we will consider that.” But he also added,
“Our medical experts are not saying that right now.”
Well I want to open up the discussion to sports fans.
Do you think the NFL should allow marijuana for medical purposes, considering the amount of pain that these athletes go through every week? What about other sports?
