Two players have been inducted to the Hall of Fame this year.
Ken Griffey Jr. and Mike Piazza.
But did you know that they had two very different starts to their Hall of Fame careers?
And that is why Junior was selected the first overall pick in 1987 by the Seattle Mariners.
Shows you how your beginning doesn't dictate the career you will have in the Big Leagues.
The surprising thing here is that, Piazza was drafted in the 62nd round of the 1988 draft.
He is also now the lowest-drafted player in the Hall of Fame.
That just shows you how one's beginning cannot dictate the life one is going to have. Griffey came into baseball with a lot of expectations and hope and was able to live up to the hype that was built around him. Just because he was a No. 1 pick doesn't give him a free ride to the Hall of Fame. He earned it.
And there is Piazza. No one expected him to even play in the Major Leagues. Well, that did not stop him from going out there, giving his best, and eventually becoming a Hall-of-Fame-worthy player. And now, he will live forever with all the other baseball legends in Cooperstown.
