I'm usually not excited about announcements of new hardware -- mostly because I already have the hardware without the bundle part -- but when I saw this new 3DS announcement that comes with the original Pokemon Red and Blue preloaded onto the system, I couldn't help but squee.
I grew up on playing these games and I can still remember sneaking my Gameboy into my backpack last minute after my mom had checked it. (My mom checked my bag because I had a problem with bring my toys and gadgets into school) And after successfully smuggling my Gameboy into my bag, I would play Pokemon Blue during recess instead of playing on the monkey bars like any normal child.
Another reason I'm hype about this announcement is because I was looking to step up my handheld game up a whole lot. I recently splurged for a PS Vita (which is amazing since they have all the JRPGs a little idiot like myself could ask for) instead of paying my health insurance bill. So, I'll probably do the same thing once this bundle gets released in stores.
Unfortunately, there still isn't any news on how much the actual bundle will cost. Hopefully it's not too insane of a price.
But if you already have a 3DS and you're unsure of trading your current one in to get the flashy new model, Pokemon Red, Blue, and the special Yellow version will all be available on the Nintendo eShop at the end of February.
I'm hoping that these bundles don't sell out super fast because I'm really into having one with the original Pokemon art on the back of it. Can you imagine all the cool kids being so jealous of me because I got this dope 20th anniversary edition 3DS?
I'm not going to get into it too much but it kind of hurts my brain when I type out 20th Anniversary because I can't believe that Pokemon has been around for 20 years and I've been alive longer than that. It's such a fucking bummer. I'm getting older and there's no stopping it.
