Hello 90's Nakama!
If you're like me you love 90's anime. From kids shows like Pokemon and Digimon and ones for an older audience like Rurouni Kenshin and Yu Yu Hakusho. 90's anime keeps going on and on with the list of amazing anime.
I think everyone knows my love for Dragon Ball Z!
I can go on and on about it's intense battles, powerful enemies and unforgettable story lines. I can also tell you about my nostalgia for this show and what it means to me. I don't need to for I talked about DBZ to a lot and I'll most likely talk about it again.
For this card let me tell you about three other 90's anime that I love; the one's that besides Dragon Ball Z made me into the anime fan that I am today! Minor spoilers for all anime.
Yu Yu Hakusho!
I'll be honest, I didn't watch this much as a kid but it is one that I watched recently and it's one that I absolutely adore! Yu Yu Hakusho takes a lot from Dragon Ball Z (nothing to be ashamed of); with it's great action scenes and high personality characters it's really one to behold. Yu Yu Hakusho starts off in the right direction with the main protagonist,Yusuke, dying within the first few moments of the show. From there it's an adventure of Yusuke learning a lesson and getting his life back. After he completes his mission Yu Yu Hakusho turns into a real great action anime. Putting Yusuke and his friends in dire situations and intense battles for Earth's protection. Who can forget the Dark World tournament in which Yusuke and his friends battled the most powerful demons in a 5v5 tournament to be the determine the very best in the demon world. This tournament had the highest emotional points in the anime and was the top saga of the arc!
I watched this show all the time as a kid. Besides Dragon Ball Z this was the anime I watched on Toonami and I loved it! The story of a wanderer, Kenshin Himura, also known as Battosai the Man Slayer. Kenshin uses a reverse blade sword so to not kill his opponents. Kenshin was in the Bakumatsu war as an assassin. His Hiten Mitsurugi-ryu sword stlye makes him a deadly foe as he moves at such blinding speeds. Rurouni Kenshin brings great story telling and exciting sword battles. Every new story arc is a new adventure and every character introduced brings new excitement. Makoto Shishio, said to be the true villain of the anime, is truly powerful. The story arc trying to stop Shishio is full of excitement. The Shishio arc really turns up the intensity to a new level giving Kenshin a moral decision; break his code not to kill or stop this tyrant once and for all.
With fierce battles and fun adventure Rurouni Kenshin always has you coming back for more.
It didn't matter to me that Ash was no good at his job to be the very best like no one was before. Ash was kind and determined; he truly cared for his Pokemon. Pokemon was the gateway anime to all other anime for me (and many others). If not for this I probably wouldn't be into anime. I continue to watch Pokemon till this day and continue to be inspired.
He's not perfect but I truly thank Ash and his friends for what they taught me as a kid and to Pokemon for being my first anime (even if I didn't know it at the time.)
