Hello, fellow Vinglers! I present to you the top plays of the weekend from the NHL! Enjoy!
This is a beautiful goal by Evgeni Malkin. The Penguins would go on to win 6-1 over the Devils, keeping pace with Detroit in the wild card race.
William Nylander sniped this beauty for his first career NHL goal, assisted by Brooks Laich. Laich also assisted on the final career goal for Michael Nylander -- William's father -- on April 5, 2009, a 6-4 Washington Capitals victory over the Atlanta Thrashers. Toronto ended up losing to the Senators, not that it really matters at this point. They are 23 points away from the wild card with 18 games left to play.
Jacob Markstrom stopped 32 shots en route to a 4-2 victory for the Canucks in San Jose. This was one of his many highlights of the night.
Alex Killorn took the puck coast to coast with 42 seconds left in overtime and beat Eddie Lack to seal the ninth straight victory for the Bolts, a team record.
Jake Allen has returned to form after his lengthy injury, demonstrating his skill with this save. Despite a perfect behind-the-back pass from Nino Niederreiter, Jason Pominville simply couldn't beat the expert netminder. St. Louis would win 4-2.
Cal Clutterbuck is Cal CLUTCHerbuck with this textbook post-faceoff win goal. The goal gave the Islanders a 5-4 lead with 1:28 left in the game. An empty netter from Frans Nielsen sealed the Islanders win over their cross-town rivals.
I hope you enjoyed those highlights! Let me know in the comments if you want to be tagged in future VSNA cards! Smell ya later!
