However, Gon soon realizes the path to achieving his goals is far more challenging than he could have ever imagined.

Along the way to becoming an official Hunter, Gon befriends the lively doctor-in-training Leorio, vengeful Kurapika, and rebellious ex-assassin Killua. To attain their own goals and desires, together the four of them take the Hunter Exam, notorious for its low success rate and high probability of death. This version of Hunter x Hunter is called the 2011 version, because it is a remake of the original, 1999 version. If you're the kind of person who would rather watch the original, go ahead, but I've only seen the 2011 version. This has become one of my all time favorite anime, mainly because it feels good to take a break from romance every once in a while and just relax with a good action, adventure anime with super powers. What I love is how, through the many, many, many characters, each one is thought through with a specific personality and super power (the super powers are referred to as nen in the anime btw). Another thing I really love about HxH is that it really sucks me into their world. I love hearing their openings and closings and anticipating the character's adventure. There are some characters you like, dislike, relate to, and admire. If you've seen One Piece, Fairytail, Naruto, and/or Bleach, then this isn't long for you, but if you're like me and don't/haven't watched a lot of long ones, then this might take you a while. I suggest students to wait until break or summer to watch it, otherwise you might binge it and watch your grades drop (a.k.a. me). The humor and excitement this anime brings is amazing, I don't know anyone who's said they didn't like HxH.

There are 8 OVA episodes for the 1999 version if you want. Along with a Hunter x Hunter: Pilot episode that aired in 1998. For the 1999 version, they also include extra episodes from the Greed Island Arc called Hunter x Hunter: Greed Island and HxH: Final. Greed Island has 8 more episodes and Final has 14 more. There aren't any 2011 OVAs, but there are 2 2011 version based movies. One of them is Hunter x Hunter: Phantom Rogue and the other is Hunter x Hunter: The Last Mission. I've seen the two movies and they are fantastic! After watching the anime, I was bummed that there wasn't more for me to watch, but when I found the movies I was so excited to get back into the world of HxH. (You can find all of these on
