Pairing: Jungkook x Reader
Length: 1239 words
Summary: It was always the same with him. Until I lost interest.
Jin was actually shocked that I had done it. That I had broken it off.
“You just left him there? Man, he’s gonna be pissed”, Jin sighed. I leaned back and tilted my head to look at him, slight annoyance tainting my features. It was always about Jungkook. How Jungkook would feel? Didn’t he know how hard this was for me?
“You look like you could use a friend. Shall I come round to yours?”
The annoyance melted into surprise. Jin was always so forward with his words. Jin looked at me expectantly, and I sighed.
“My room mate is having some girls night in with some of her other friends tonight, because I told her I wouldn’t be back till late.” The plan was to have a nice dinner and spend the evening, possible the night with Jungkook. But now this has had happened. And I had nowhere to go.
“Fine. Come round to ours.”
“Are you crazy? Your room-mate is now my ex Jin.”
Jin gave a small laugh. “Well now you’ve missed your stop, so you might as well. Plus, I doubt he’ll be home any time soon.”
I knew this was true. Jungkook, over the last month especially, had developed this terrible habit of drinking his problems away. Which, funnily enough, never actually helped.
I shut my eyes and internally cursed as I watched my stop disappear into the distance. Jin laughed again at the look on my face.
We heard the ‘beep’ as someone pressed the button to get off. It was that girl with the headphones. I gave her a small smile as she passed, leaving just me and Jin on the bus.
Just before the bus started moving Jin took the opportunity to get up and move next to me. I looked up at him, as he gave me a reassuring smile and squeezed my knee.
I sighed sadly. “Jin. I did him wrong.”
His voice was firm when he said. “No y/n. We did him wrong. But we need to get past that. We were drunk and not thinking straight. And it’s not like he’s treating you like shit because he found out, because neither of us told him.”
I nodded slowly. “So why is he treating me like this?” Jin just gave me a shrug, as I swallowed the lump in my throat. The number of times I had asked Jungkook what I had done, what was on his mind...I’d lost count.
I hoped Jin was right and Jungkook really did plan on staying out, because I had no other option that to just go along with him. We sat there in silence. Him, looking at his phone, and me just staring out the window, reenacting that scene in my head. My heart felt heavy as I remembered the look on his face, and I had to keep reminding myself that I let him treat me like this a whole month before I did anything.
A whole month of having me heart broken, repeatedly. Of being rejected. Of being brushed to the side. Surely I was better off without him?
Their place was empty except for Yoongi, one of their other friends, who was sound asleep on the sofa. That was typical of him- I swear that boy was always asleep.
Me and Jin spent the evening lounging about, making small talk. I tried to avoid him by pretending like I was texting, when in reality I was ignoring all my messages- some from Jungkook too.
I looked up and saw him looking right back, eyebrow raised. He knew I was pretending.
“You should take your things out of Jungkook’s room, y/n. Any clothes, or anything else you’ve bought over”, he suggested casually.
My eyes widened. I hadn’t even thought of that. There were a few of my things lying around in his room, so I could quickly go and collect them before he came.
“Be right back!” I said to Jin as I rushed passed a still sleeping Yoongi. I sighed as the closed the door to the already familiar room. I looked around, taking it all in for what I assumed was the last time. My eyes intentionally didn’t look in the direction of the little photo Jungkook kept of us two next to his bed.
I made my way to his wardrobe, and sure enough, all my things were there, untouched. There were my earphones that I had forgotten to take home with me. There was my jacket. There was one of my bags from a night out.
I also made a mental note to clear out all of Jungkook’s things from my room and give them to Jin or someone who could pass them on to their rightful owner. This was it- this was finally happening.
But there was no sense of relief or freedom. I only felt numb as I grabbed the last of my things.
I was almost done, when the door burst open. It was Jungkook, with some scantily clad woman clinging on to him. I stood there, like a deer caught in headlights, holding my possessions.
It took me all of two seconds to figure out the two of them were absolutely smashed. “What the fuck are you doing here?” Jungkook asked, stepping forward. His words were so slurred it took me a moment to comprehend them.
The girl let go of him, an amused glint in her eyes. Jungkook grabbed my neckline and roughly pushed me against his wardrobe. I could smell the alcohol on his breath.
“Jungkook, let go!” I warned. My hands were occupied but that didn’t mean I wouldn’t kick him. But I couldn’t bring myself to do it.
“Bitch. Who the fuck do you think you are? You’re nothing!” He hissed. The girl was jumping around, clapping her hands and squealing.
“GET OFF!” I yelled, trying to shoulder him, but he had me pinned in place. “Bitch!” He yelled in my face, his grip on my shoulders making me cry out in pain.
“J-jungook stop! Please!” I was shouting now, but he was acting like I hadn’t even spoke.
“Y/n, whats going o-what the fuck?” Jin appeared at Jungkook’s door, looking absolutely livid. He came storming in, straight past the girl, shoving Jungkook away, who stumbled, but still managed to regain his balance.
“The hell do you think you’re doing?” Jin demanded, pulling me gently to stand behind him. Jungkook narrowed his eyes, but didn’t respond. “C’mon y/n, have you got everything?” I nodded through my tears and slowly walked out.
The girl gave me an extremely dirty look, which didn’t really help the ‘i’m feeling like utter shit’ vibe I had going on.
Jin slammed the door and helped me down the stairs- I was a mess. “Shh, it’ll be OK” I heard Jin murmur as I sobbed into his shirt. I never wanted to see Jungkook again.
We both heard Yoongi stir as he mumbled, still half-asleep. “What’s going on?” Jin just rolled his eyes, and looked back at me. “Y/n”, he stroked my hair gently as I looked at him through my tears. “Let’s get you home.”
I thanked him, still crying as he pulled me away from the man who had turned my life upside down. We all make mistakes, yadda yadda, but this is not something I was going to forgive or forget because I was hurting.
All thanks to Jeon Jungkook.
