He lost both his legs in a racing accident in Germany but continued to race WTCC and this was shot at the last race of the year in Macau. It was also to be his last race for BMW as he announced his retirement from competitive racing. Zinardi is a two time CART champion and a former F1 driver. The BMW he drove was specially designed as both the accelerator and brake paddles were installed on the steering wheel as Zinardi had no legs to operate them. He walks with a pair of prosthetic legs.
