I'm gonna steam roll right into the next one so let's just get to it shall we :)
I really enjoyed watching Hellsing it had everything you could ask for in a horror anime, gratuitous amounts of blood, dark atmosphere and compelling story. I thought no one could even oppose Alucard and in struts the immortal Priest. The biggest thing that piqued my interest about Hellsing wasn't Alucard or how bad ass he could be no it was Seras Victoria. Victoria was the wild card for me she could have been the worst part of this but she worked surprisingly well. Being turned into a vampire made her hilarious when she had to do this out of her comfort zone like sleep in a coffin xD But seeing her eventually mold into this bad ass vamp really amped me up cuz then I didn't have to worry about her more so anyone against her. Hellsing I feel started something awesome with Horror, balancing bad ass action while making the fights as gruesome as possible really set a tone that I haven't seen done properly in a while shame but maybe one I'll see another like it.
Devil May Cry
Upon first hearing of it I got worried would they opt for their own Dante? Their own universe rather than the one the games had already set up for him? *cough DmC cough* No they didn't sticking to who Dante is a smart aleck bad ass. I also appreciate the voice actor being the original voice actor for Dante I'm glad they didn't try to get someone else because it would have been a negative more than less. I really like the characters in this as well Patty Lowell offered more than I thought being more than just a bratty kid she and Dante get into some pretty hilarious disagreements, and Trish and Lady also bring a change of pace for Dante wether that be banter or just a job it's all pretty great. Devil May Cry may not have the best overall villain but it does do it's characters and franchise justice with this anime adaptation. I hope there can be more video to anime series just like this one.
I was a bit underwhelmed by Tokyo Ghoul not that it was terrible it just didn't wow me. It brought nothing new to the table, yes the Ghouls were cool and the Investigators were kick ass specially Juuzou but it really failed to break the mold that most anime fall into. Touka was a bad ass character who ended up being wasted potential, Kaneki saw life through a Ghoul and human yet failed to convey these feelings clearly to either party. But there was one saving grace for me Hide. Hide was the best part of this series for me yeah he didn't have alot of screen time nor should it have focused on him but he was awesome as a character. Being there for Kaneki to help him out with his girl troubles or just cracking jokes. Hide stuck by Kaneki even knowing he was a Ghoul staying his friend until the end....Also he started looking like Terry Bogard so bonus there :3 Tokyo Ghoul was alright but it could have been amazing. I'm told the manga is better than the anime but that's just √A I think the anime followed the manga up until that point. Well maybe it'll get better eventually who knows right :)
Blue Exorcist (Ao no Exorcist) Blue Exorcist was interesting anime as I had no idea what I was getting into when watching it. It has an interesting concept being about Exorcist how how they deal with certain demons or familiars. I liked this one as the characters seemed nicely balanced with each or at least most having a particular roll to play, even the guy seemed to be a bully was actually useful with his incantations I disliked the weak ass character motivations and even some characters altogether as they never grow or break out of there shell. I do like Rin and how he can connect to other people because he's a nice person he doesn't need some speech or brainwashing methods to get someone to like him they just do because that's the vibe he gives off. Yukio was a huge disappointment to me or rather what they did to him. I would have preferred if he stayed the same that way his hatred for Rin stays valid and eventually he'd be able to forgive Rin based off of his own feelings rather than being forced to in a way. Blue Exorcist had an interesting concept even interesting characters however it failed to really deliver overall still a solid series though and I hear it's getting a season 2 for the anime so maybe there's hope yet. Also I understand it's not as gruesome as the other 3 but it's classified as a horror genre... apparently so it's tots fair game :3
