Hello fellow K-Dramatics and welcome to medical drama week here in the community!
This week, I'm covering one of my favorite dramas, Doctor Crush!
Yoo Hye-jung was a headstrong girl in high school with a prickly, gangster personality. Due to her many childhood scars, Hye-jung keeps her heart closed towards other people. However, she changes after meeting her mentor Hong Ji-hong, who plays a key role in transforming her life from a "hopeless" delinquent to a compassionate doctor. They part ways subsequently but meet again after 13 years, when Yoo Hye-jung becomes a doctor.
Not only is the romance in this drama just heart melting and heart wrenching but the medical side of things in this drama were really well done. I've seen a lot of medical shows, both American and Foreign, where there are these outlandish conditions and these crazy techniques to cure it that are so unbelievable that I can't invest or buy into the situation.
In this one though, everything was very organic and believable. I was on the edge of my seat through some of the procedures.
The side plots were all well done and fit within the story nicely so they didn't feel like they were there for padding in the show's run time.
The romance itself was just...*dreamy sigh* If you didn't know who Kim Rae-Won was before this, you will never forget him after. He is the master of adorable facial expressions and is so charming and charismatic. His chemistry with Park Shin-hye is so wonderful that you will be rooting for this couple the whole way through.
