SooJin POV
“So, tell us or kiss him,” JiEun smirked. “Either way, who is the person you like romantically?”
“JiEun...”
“You have to. It’s been asked.”
I felt tears start to come up. She was really going to make me confess, drunk, on my birthday, with him in the same room. Why? So he could turn me down in front of everyone? “JiEun,” I pleaded.
“Come on,” Taehyung joined in. “Tell us.”
“Why are you doing this?” I asked quietly. JiEun was too drunk to notice my tone.
“Come on and confess or pucker up,” she giggled drunkenly.
I stood up. “I really don’t like you right now,” I told them. “You’re not supposed to do this on my birthday.” I opened the door. Just before leaving, I paused. “Hoseok,” I confessed before slamming the door shut.
I stumbled down the hall as fast as I could to the next room, mine and JiEun’s. Hot tears ran down my cheeks. I couldn’t believe she made me confess like that. No. That wasn’t the whole thing. It was only a game. I could have refused if I wanted to. So why had I said it? Was I trying to sabotage myself? I slammed the door shut and leaned against it, the strength leaving my legs. Once on the ground, I just stayed there. I was so upset at myself. Why had I done that? Now everything would change. Hoseok would be forced to tell me he’s sorry that he can’t return my feelings. I now had an even better appreciation for what Jimin was going through. How could he bear to be around me? How much pain was I causing him? I was selfish for thinking that things should be normal.
There was a knock on the door, just a plain knock. But I knew who it had to be. The rooms at my parents’ house were not soundproof so I yelled at her, “Go away, JiEun!” She knocked again, this time not stopping. “Go away!” I yelled again. When she still wasn’t stopping, I stood up. “Kim JiEun!” I yelled as I flung the door open.
But it wasn’t JiEun on the other side. “H-Hoseok...”
“SooJin-ah.” I tried to close the door. He didn’t even have to make much of an effort to keep it open.
“Please just go. I don’t need to hear you say it. I already know.”
“You know what?” he asked and slipped into the room. I held the door open for him to leave. “I’m not leaving until we talk.”
“Can’t you—can’t you just pretend nothing happened?” I pleaded with him. “Just pretend I didn’t say anything. I don’t need your pity.”
“I can’t do that. I can’t pretend.”
“Why?” I cried.
“I thought...” He paused and looked away. “I thought... you liked Jimin...”
“Huh?” That didn’t make any sense. Why would he think...? And even if he did, why would that matter?
“When you were in the hospital, I thought I might’ve had a chance. I thought that maybe... maybe you liked me.” There was apparently something wrong with my ears or my brain, because I definitely wasn’t hearing this correctly. Maybe I really had had too much to drink. “And then... I accidentally overheard you say that he kissed you. I got scared. But... nothing changed so I let myself try again. And then last week... you two have been so close. I thought... I was positive I’d lost you to him.” What was he saying? He finally looked up at my again. His eyes were... hopeful? “Say it again.”
“Say what?”
“That it’s me you like. Tell me you like me.” I hesitantly shook my head. I was so confused what he was trying to do. He frowned. “I love you.”
I felt my heart stop. That wasn’t... that wasn’t possible. I shook my head in disbelief.
“I love you,” he declared more forcefully, this time gripping my shoulders. “Tell me you feel the same...” I couldn’t move. His hands relaxed their grip on me, his shoulders dropped, and his eyes went back to the ground. My heart was breaking. Was it really possible? Or was this just a drunken mistake? “I... I understand. I’m sorry...” His hands dropped to his side.
Oh God, I just did to him what Jimin did to me
“I’m sorry, I—“ and then his lips were back against mine. It took me a second for my body to catch up to the situation. I returned his kiss with equal passion. The kiss deepened as we pulled our bodies flush against each other. This feeling, this wonderful feeling, traveled all the way up and down my body. I was burning up hotter than when I saw Hoseok come out of the shower wearing only a towel.
“I love you,” he murmured into my lips.
I moaned. “I love you,” I responded. His tongue delved into every corner of my mouth, softly caressing and dominating mine. God, his tongue. Even if I was an experienced kisser, I doubted I could have kept up with him. One hand moved to the middle of my back, keeping me against him. The other hand traveled down to my butt. I moaned into his mouth when he squeezed it. Everything felt so amazing. I didn’t want it to stop. I tightened my arms that were wrapped around his neck making sure neither of us could pull back; not that we wanted to. I was far too lost in the sensations that were flooding my body.
The moment was destroyed when two hands practically ripped us apart. “Jesus!” Jin exclaimed. “I told you to make up with her not make out with her or whatever the hell that was supposed to be.”
“Oh, that was so past making out,” JiEun giggled. But neither I nor Hoseok were paying attention. Our eyes and our attention were only on each other. That look in his eyes... it sent pleasant tingling up and down my body. I could practically feel him still pressed against me. I knew he was probably seeing the same thing in my eyes. I just wanted his lips back on mine, his hands on me.
“Are you—are you two even listening?” That snapped us out of it. I looked to Jin with wide eyes. “Good. Now you are.” He turned to Hoseok. “Hoseok...” Hoseok’s face turned pink.
“Wow,” JiEun giggled again. “That was actually really hot... I’m gonna go find Jungkook.” And then she stumbled out of the room towards the other room.
“Sorry,” Hoseok told me. My heart stopped again.
“Why... Why are you sorry?” I was so afraid of what he was going to say.
“Not for telling you I like you,” he quickly shot out, apparently recognizing my fear. “And not that I kissed you, but that I kissed you like that. I didn’t mean to jump the gun like that. I think the alcohol made me a little too brave.” I relaxed and let out a breath I didn’t know I’d been holding.
I smiled. “Okay. That’s okay then.” Jin was still there. “I need more alcohol,” I announced and stumbled after JiEun.
“No, you don’t. That’s what got you here in the first place,” Jin called after me. By the time I got to the room, JiEun was pouting, her and Jungkook separated by Namjoon and Yoongi. Jungkook was looking at his lap sheepishly and Namjoon was staring daggers past Yoongi and at the younger boy. I sat down and grabbed my drink, finishing it in one go.
“Thirsty?” Taehyung inquired, a smirk on his face. I just stared at him for a moment before looking around. Jimin met my eyes. He smiled sadly. My heart went out to him. Right then, Jin and Hoseok came back.
“Give me my Kookie!” JiEun demanded of her brothers.
“I’m gonna break your Kookie,” Namjoon spat. Jungkook shrank down. Hoseok sat next to me and I looked at him shyly.
“Whhhyyyyy...” she whined.
“Because when you straddle him, whisper in his ear, and he says he’ll help you ‘take care of your problem’ right in front of your brothers, he’s asking for it.” Yoongi laughed at Namjoon.
“It’s not my fault Hoseok oppa and unnie got me all hot and bothered.” All eyes turned to us.
“How’s that?” Taehyung prodded.
“You should have seen them,” JiEun sang leaning towards Taehyung. “They were basically having sex with their clothes still on.” Hoseok and I choked on our drinks.
“Oh were they...”
“That’s still no excuse,” Namjoon stated.
“A bit hypocritical, don’t you think?” Jimin commented.
“Really, oppa,” JiEun agreed.
Yoongi laughed. “Jimin-ah is right,” he said. “But anyway, the only reason I’m here is so that my brother doesn’t kill poor Jungkook whose only crime is being a red-blooded male.”
“Hyung!” Namjoon exclaimed.
“What? They’re adults. I mean, right now they’re not in a position to make good decisions, but if they’re sober, they have the right to do what they want. And Jimin is right, after all. You aren’t exactly in the position to tell her anything about not having sex.” That shut Namjoon up. For the most part. He still continued to mumble under his breath.
“But back to the important thing,” Taehyung spoke up. “Are hyung and noona a thing now?”
I froze. I didn’t know the answer. We hadn’t talked about us. We kissed and had a steamy, though short, make out session, but we didn’t discuss anything else. He said he loved me. But what if his ‘love’ was something similar to what Namjoon, Taehyung, and Jimin usually had with women. My worries were dispelled when Hoseok grabbed my hand. With a smile, he brought my hand to his lips and kissed it gently.
“That’s what I want. So if that’s what SooJin wants—“ before he could finish speaking, I was vigorously nodding my head. The others laughed. Hoseok laced our fingers together. “Good.” He rested our hands on his lap.
“Let’s drink to that,” Taehyung practically shouted. “’Cause it’s about damn time.” Everyone raised their glasses. “To the densest people here—Cheers!”
“Cheers!” everyone yelled and clinked their glasses together. I watched as Jimin held his glass towards Hoseok. Hoseok hesitantly raised his glass and clinked them together. Then we all drank.
“Did your wish come true?” JiEun asked. She probably already knew the answer.
“Yeah. Yeah it did,” I responded, looking at Hoseok. He kissed me chastely before returning to his drink. How easily he could make my heart flutter.
Sometime in the next hour, everyone started passing out. JiEun and I didn’t even bother trying to go back to our room. Yoongi, Jin, Hoseok, and Jimin were still awake when I finally passed out.
Narrator POV
The next morning, Taehyung was the first to wake up again. He woke up JiEun who woke up Jungkook, Yoongi, and Namjoon. Yoongi woke up Jin and Jimin was woken up by the not-so-quiet gawkers. Between giggles and groans of pain from their light hangovers, none of them knew how Hoseok and SooJin could still be asleep. Jin just stared at the two, arms crossed. He knew they hadn’t done anything. But how SooJin had managed to move to the other side of him to where Hoseok was, he had no idea.
He watched the two sleeping, SooJin was using Hoseok as a body pillow, her head on his chest, arm across his torso, and one leg over his. Hoseok had one arm under her, one arm over, and was holding her close to him, his head turned to the side and resting just above hers. Jin had to admit that they looked like the perfect couple right now, but she was still his sister and would always be overprotective of her, even with Hoseok.
JiEun and Taehyung’s giggles finally caused Hoseok to stir. Jin’s eyes narrowed when the mostly asleep younger boy turned onto his side and pulled SooJin into a more comfortable position. The two childish ones burst into loud laughter. Hoseok seemed to wake up at that. He sighed comfortably and started opening his eyes. It took him a good ten seconds of staring at SooJin before he realized the position he was in. He wasn’t in a position to be able to pull away so he was stuck going back to lying on his back with his eyes darting around frantically. He looked up, saw Jin, and froze.
“I—uh—I—uh—I have no idea how this happened,” Hoseok blurted. The movements and noise woke SooJin up as well. She snuggled her head against Hoseok’s chest until she realized that her body pillow was a lot more solid than it should have been. She cracked her eyes open, staring at Hoseok’s chest before looking up and meeting his eyes. Her eyes grew wide.
“Holy crap!” she yelped before jerking away from him like she just touched a hot stove, then grabbed her head in pain. Taehyung and JiEun literally rolled on the floor laughing. The others couldn’t help but join in; even Jimin chuckled. “I’m s-s-sorry. I don’t know why—I mean, I don’t usually move—“
JiEun dragged herself next to SooJin. “My poor, flustered unnie,” she laughed as she grabbed onto SooJin.
Hoseok looked at SooJin, looked away, and then scooted a little closer to her. SooJin noticed and blushed. Without looking, she moved next to him. Hoseok grabbed her hand and held it between them. The others responded with either gagging noises or ‘aw’s.
Everyone was being so loud that they didn’t hear the knock on the door. The door opened, revealing Mr. and Mrs. Kim. As soon as he saw the door open, the couple pulled their hands apart and pretended that nothing had happened. They were lucky, because the parents didn’t seem to notice anything.
“Glad to see you guys didn’t drink yourselves into a coma,” Mr. Kim joked. Everyone joined in laughter. “Though judging by the current time, you guys definitely had some fun after the old people left, huh?” Everyone looked at each other and chuckled nervously. All of them were aware that there was no good answer for that question.
“Brunch is ready whenever you guys are,” Mrs. Kim told them.
“Thank you, mom and dad,” they all responded in unison. Mrs. Kim laughed and her husband smiled.
“We’ll leave you to it then. Join us whenever you’re ready.” The kids all looked at each other. The parents were waiting on them to eat. They all quickly jumped up to get ready. Mrs. Kim laughed and the two parents left. The kids rushed to get ready.
When they finished a couple minutes later, they went down as a group. The table was set and full of food. They eagerly sat down and everyone started dishing up. The ones who had been drinking profusely dished up bowls full of hangover soup. A bottle of medicine was passed around for their headaches. As they started to remember the things that had happened the previous night, some of them got embarrassed and avoided eye contact with others while others laughed at the things they had done. But no one explicitly said anything out loud, everything was conveyed in looks, avoiding looks, and jokingly passive-aggressive comments. The parents watched all the kids, clearly understanding what was currently going on.
When brunch was almost finished, the Mr. Kim spoke up, dispelling Hoseok and SooJin’s hopes that they hadn’t been seen. “So... is there anything we should know about?” Hoseok and SooJin looked at each other out of the corner of their eyes. They hadn’t done much in the way of talking about their relationship after their... confessions. When they took too long to answer, he asked, “How long have you two been dating?”
Their eyes expressed their agreement over telling her parents. “We only decided to start dating last night,” Hoseok confessed.
“Oh! Drunk confessions?” Mrs. Kim asked excitedly.
SooJin and Hoseok nodded. “I’ve liked him for a while,” SooJin disclosed. “But I didn’t know his feelings for me.”
“Same for me,” Hoseok added.
“So, was it just confessions or...” she lowered her voice, “should we consider the possibility of grandchildren?” The couple’s faces turned crimson and everyone took great pleasure in laughing at them.
“No!” the two yelled at the same time.
Mr. Kim’s laugh rumbled. “That’s definitely good to hear. And just make sure, whenever you do go further, use protection.” If it was possible for their faces to be redder, they would have been. “But I’m glad you left the future relationship possibility open at the press conference.”
Hoseok nodded. “I had hoped I would need it,” he admitted. Hoseok gently gripped SooJin’s hand in his. SooJin smiled back.
“I’m glad my daughter is happy. But fair warning from a father.” His face became serious. “If you hurt my daughter, I will make you regret it. Understood?”
“Y-yes, sir,” Hoseok stuttered in response. Even SooJin laughed at that.
“He won’t hurt me,” SooJin remarked with absolute certainty. “I know that much.” The others made gagging noises. SooJin waved them off with her free hand. They sat around the table for a while longer before going back to gather their things. They said goodbye to their hosts and then left for home. This time, Hoseok rode next to SooJin.
As soon as they got home, everyone unpacked and hopped in their showers. SooJin had just finished dressing after her shower when there was a knock on her door; Hoseok’s knock. SooJin smiled and moved to the wall where she’d be hidden when the door was opened. The door opened a crack and Hoseok called her name. SooJin pressed her lips tightly together to keep from giggling. He opened the door more and called her name again. When there was no answer, he took a couple steps into the room.
Hoseok was still peering around the room when SooJin snuck up and hugged him from behind. She felt his body jump in surprise.
“Did I scare you?” she teased. Hoseok chuckled and turned around in her grasp. Without a word he captured her lips in a kiss. This time, SooJin jolted in surprise.
“Did I scare you?” Hoseok mimicked, pulling back.
SooJin smirked. “No.” Then she leaned up to meet his lips again. Something about him was so addicting; she just couldn’t get enough of him. And without her knowing it, Hoseok felt exactly the same about her. His hand snaked around to the back of her head and rested on her still-damp hair, pulling her closer. Her hands gripped his shirt tightly as the kiss deepened further and further.
“C’mon you two,” came Jin’s voice, slicing through their world. The two pulled apart, though their hands didn’t completely leave each other. “At least the kids have the decency to shut the door. It’s like you’re trying to make me the bad guy.”
“Sorry, oppa,” SooJin giggled. She turned to him. “Can you shut the door please?” Hoseok’s face turn red and he reluctantly let go of her. SooJin just laughed.
“Are you trying to get me killed?” Hoseok questioned. SooJin laughed again.
Jin groaned in annoyance and walked away.
“Should we shut the door?” Hoseok suggested.
A short time later, the two were sitting on the edge of SooJin’s bed, still slightly out of breath after their heated make-out session. Neither wanted to stop but they knew that they needed to.
Hoseok turned to SooJin. “Want to go out to dinner sometime this week?”
SooJin smiled and leaned on his shoulder. “Of course.”
“Good. And then maybe this next weekend I can take us somewhere fun?” SooJin made a noise of agreement. She intertwined their fingers together.
“I’ll go anywhere with you,” she sighed contentedly. Hoseok removed his hand from hers and switched it with his other hand. He ran his hand through her hair that still hadn’t completely dried yet.
“I love you,” Hoseok mumbled, his lips pressed against the top of her head.
“I love you too.” Hoseok chuckled. “What?”
“Your wet hair is making my lips cold,” he laughed.
“Should I warm them up again?” SooJin purred. Hoseok had difficulty swallowing.
“Um, maybe I should help blow-dry your hair?” he suggested. SooJin laughed at his awkwardness.
“Let’s do that then.”
********************************************************************************
Gah! Finally! Lol. I'm so happy it finally happened! How about you? Was it cute enough? Or too cheesy? Lol.
Well, anyway, there's only 2 more chapters and an epilogue after this. I've been getting a bit of writer's block on Hoseok's epilogue. I want it to be cute and fulfilling and to be about the same level as Jimin's while not going through the same incidences. Anyhow, I'll make sure to have it done.
I'll try to post the next chapter on Saturday, but I, unfortunately, have a long trip again. If I can't get it done before I leave on Friday, I'll make sure I have it done on Sunday. Thanks for your guys' patience with me for this whole story. I love you all.
