If you've always believed eating correctly intended stodgy, dull food every day, you could be confused. "The perfect diet plan cuts out processed food, includes healthy fats and is balanced", comments Dr. Santhanam. You know how they say the best things in life are fattening, immoral or addictive? Well, this holds true for food options as well. While an additional spoon of sugar or Pad Thai takeaway might not seem like much, it doesn't bode well for the own skin. "Foods that are high in sugar, are processed or comprise MSG are inflammatory in character. This may affect the skin greatly and make it become oily, blotchy and pimple-ridden," concludes Dr. Aparna.

Eat by colour
"Include bright coloured vegetables and fruits such as berries, pumpkin, beetroot, capsicum and pomegranates on your diet. They are anti-inflammatory in nature and help heal skin damage," says Dr. Aparna. In addition to those, proteins and carbs are also nutritional necessities. "Natural dietary protein and complex carbohydrates like jowar and bajra help reconstruct the structure of their body so that your skin remains firm and healthy."
