Is It Necessary To Respect Older Kpop Groups?

I found these screenshots of tweets earlier and it reminded me of a twitter argument that I got in sometime last year (I think it might've been with one of these people^ lol).

My question is whether or not new kpop fans should respect older groups (especially 1st and 2nd generation groups).

I, personally, have tons of respect for older groups considering they're the ones that really paved the way for these new groups to become popular internationally. I mean, imagine if artists like TVXQ and BoA didn't promote outside of Korea. Or if Psy, Big Bang, and 2ne1 didn't put out bops that caused more people in western countries to learn about the existence of K-pop. Would K-pop really be as popular as it is today without them?

Of course, I don't think it's necessary for all K-pop fans to like older groups simply because of those reasons, but, it would be nice of fans to at least respect "old" groups since all these newer groups obviously do. I mean, I don't even know how many idols have said that they were inspired by Big Bang/TVXQ/SNSD/etc.

What do you guys think?
