Washing your face is an essential step in any skin care routine, of that there is no doubt. But what if I told you I wash, cleanse, and moisturize my face without ever turning on a faucet?
I currently live in Seoul, South Korea where the water quality is harder and more acidic than the soft mineral based water I grew up with in California. While I have a filter for my drinking water as well as a filter for my shower head, my sink spits out unfiltered hard water.
When researching French skincare routines, I learned that women in France faced similar problems. The water is hard and harsh to the skin, andn luckily, they had a solution for me.
micellar water
This water contains cleansing micelle particles which work to lift out any impurities from your skin and can even get water proof makeup off with no problem. While some women might use a cleanser mixed with water from their sink, many French women simply use this formula and a cotton pad and their face is cleansed!
After using this for two weeks my skin is noticably softer, holds onto moisture better, and one of my peskiest crows feet is fading. Considering this week was one of the worst on record for air pollution in this part of the world, this water worked overtime.
I used both the plain water as well as the cleansing milk, which I used at night for added moisture.
If you're worried about your water quality or you just want to get started with French beauty, micellar water changed my skin for the better in less than a month, and I'd wager it will do the same for you!
