WHAT IS NEET ?
NEET , also called as NATIONAL eligibility cum entrance test replaced the AIPMT which is All India Pre Medical Test to offer admissions to students in MBBS AND BDS throughout the country and abroad. . A three hour offline mode paper is moderate to difficult in standards. It is the sole entrance assessment for admissions to more than 66,000 MBBS and BDS seats across India .It is conducted by the National Testing Agency – NTA.
WHAT IS THE PATTERN ?
NEET UG paper comprises of 180 questions – 45 each from the 4 sections of Physics , Chemistry , Botany and Zoology covering the NCERT and certain advanced concepts of class 11th and 12th science. Each question carries 4 marks and their is a negative marking of minus 1 for each wrong reply. Thus the sum total marks are out of 720. The paper follows the MCQ pattern and the correct option needs to be filled in the OMR sheet.
THE CURRENT ROW....
Due to the spread of pandemic Covid 19 , NEET exam this year was postponed from May to July and then once again from July to September. It was scheduled to be held on 13th September with the central government and NTA firm on its decisions. According to them , a student cannot afford to lose a precious academic year and thus exam of NEET would be conducted on the said date with all precautions and guidelines to ensure safety of students at the exam halls . This was met with strong resentment and agitation from the student community who were supported by various big shots of the country. The students asked for further postponement of the exam till the situation ,which is alarming due to the pandemic normalizes. India is currently the third worst hit country with cases in lakhs emerging per day . In such crisis , with no proper transport , facilities and above all mental stress , students are finding it difficult to appear in the exams. Also the students from Bihar , Assam and NorthEastern states who faced the flood fury this year are niether physically nor mentally prepared for the same . The government is not paying an ear to these cries primarily because students are thought of less vote banksneither by the government.
