Have you ever experience a leaking dryer vent or facing the same issue? Do you know the reason behind it? Most of the answers definitely would be in No, they may not aware of the reasons. But here I have listed some reasons that can be one of your dryer duct leakings. Fixing it on priority is a must, because it causes various problems, for instance, water damage, mold, and mildew. You don't need to worry about anything, this issue is very common, almost everyone faces this problem who has dryer at their home.
Air and moisture flow outward through the dryer's exhaust pipe and the one who protects that pipe at its endpoint outside of your house is 'Flapper'. When air passes out from the exhausted pipe then flapper open and help the air to pass out from the pipe. It remains closed when there is no activity. If your flapper is in good condition then you don't need to worry. But if it is broken, then it may result in a leaking dryer duct. Because if the flapper gets damaged, then rain and snow can enter inside the exhaust pipe and lead to leaking dryer vent.
There is another reason when you experience leaking that is the stuck flapper. It will not allow air and moisture went out due to which moisture get condensed and cause leaking.
Vent Configured Incorrectly
The improperly configured vent can cause dryer vent leaking. The ducting exhaust pipe should be horizontal or vertical instead of zig-zag design. The straighter pipe lets the air pass out easily and in zigzag or uneven configurations lint and moisture start collecting easily. This creates condensation of moisture and then you may face a dryer vent leaking issue. While installation you should consider this point and install the dryer vent in a proper and well manner.
