Travel plans are meant to change once in a while and this makes it's obvious for passengers to look for refundable fares. Or at least they look forward to paying nothing extra if their plans get cancelled due to any reason. For passengers who are travelling on Delta, one of the well-known airlines, the airline has got one of the best cancellation policies. However, the guidelines may vary depending upon various factors such as fare type, time of cancellation, the reason for the flight being cancelled, etc.
Important points to know about penalty-free cancellation on Delta
• As per the airline’s cancellation policy, you can cancel your Delta airlines booking (both refundable & non-refundable) within 24 hours of its purchase, without any penalty. Also, you’ll get a full refund against your Delta cancellation.
• In the event, if you are travelling via Basic Economy fare, then airline will not permit you free-cancellation post the 24-hours risk free cancellation time. However, for non-refundable bookings, Delta will charge a $0-$500 cancellation fee depending upon the time of cancellation and will refund rest of the amount.
• For refundable Delta flight tickets, the airline will provide full refund even after you cancel it after 24hours of the departure.
• For passengers travelling on Award Ticket, they can cancel their booking within 72 hours before the scheduled departure. However, a fixed cancellation charge i.e. $150 has to be paid by the passengers except the SkyMiles Platinum and Diamond Medallion members.
