Story: When a cargo ship has to make an emergency landing for repairs, you and your crew face a few unexpected challenges, among them is a former captain on the stranded planet.
Hoseok named the planet Paradise because of the colors of the sky changing almost every hour and it was relatively peaceful. His saving grace was his ship that had survived the emergency landing some four years ago... or was it five? He couldn't remember. Time was different on Paradise. There were also life forms that he had to learn about, one's that were dangerous and highly poisonous, some so deadly they could kill a man in minutes after touching it. The only way he was able to analyze any of that stuff was to use his ship. The ship was designed to stay powered up for years out in space so it hadn't run out of power just yet but he wasn't eager to drain its energy either.
Hoseok had finished catching his dinner for the day when he caught sight of something falling out of the sky. It didn't look like it had much control, he knew it had to be another Luxarion ship but he had no idea who it was. He did know that if they survived the crash they wouldn't make it here for long especially where he saw them heading. The ship landed in the water and so far he hadn't encountered any large sea life that posed a big threat. What he did encounter however, killed some of his remaining crew members when they first crashed.
"Shit," he said to himself.
He quickly packed up his gear and hurried down the volcano. His AI system, Newton, reminded him of when night would fall. If he went down there to help them now, there was no guarantee they'd make it back before night fall. He wasn't willing to take risks on this planet but he was acquainted with the climate and the terrain enough that he knew he could still lead them up safely in the night, as long as they listened to him. Hoseok made sure to grab the torch before hurrying down the mountain. With how long it would take him to get there the sky will have turned blood red, they would reached land by then, he hoped. He moved as fast as he could without exerting so much energy that he couldn't help them later.
When Hoseok reached the shore he saw three people and what looked like another AI robot walking out while connected to a box. They were a cargo ship, as he got closer though he realized that one of them looked very familiar, the girl wearing captain's stripes was giving off orders after she took off her helmet. As he stepped closer, he saw her and the other members backing up and looking defense.
"What the hell are you doing here?" He said.
She stared at him wide eyed, in utter disbelief that she was really seeing him.
"Hoseok? You're supposed to be dead," she said.
"You know him?" One of her crew members said.
She stared at Hoseok longer. She didn't move an inch but he could see the questioning in her eyes.
"Come on we need to go," Hoseok said.
She didn't move though. Her crew members looked at her, the one that spoke earlier had short black hair that was cut on the sides, he was tall and the other one was long but shorter than the other. He had light brown hair that looked like it had been died and his hair was curly. Hoseok himself had cut his hair over the years he was lost in Paradise.
"We're not going anywhere with you," the light brown haired one said.
He must've been younger than the other one. He seemed less mature.
"Minhyuk," she said as she raised her hand to quiet him down.
The older one stepped forward keeping an eye on Hoseok but addressing Y/N as he said,
"What should we do captain?"
"If you don't follow me now you'll die here. All of you. The creatures that come to the water at night are deadly. You can't stay here," Hoseok explained.
"We have another member in cryo sleep, we can't just leave him. Luca is repairing the ship then we'll refeul-"
"Y/N no. Look, I get the repairs need to be made. It's important but you need to make them in the morning. Night only lasts a few hours here, not like back home. When they hunt, they hunt fast."
"So are you suggesting we abandon our ship? Who's to say these creatures won't vandalize our ship while we're gone. We may be stranded here forever." The one she called Minhyuk said.
There was more urgency in his voice now. He saw that Y/N still had that look in her eyes, a slight bit of happiness but more curiosity than anything else. She sighed and turned to look at the older member,
"Hyunwoo, go awaken Kihyun we're not leaving him here."
The one named Hyunwoo looked at her as if silently asking her if she was sure; she nodded to him and he looked back at Hoseok before he headed into the cargo ship. She stepped forward and said,
"Do we have time to gather supplies?"
"Very little. I'll help but only take what's necessary I don't want to be slowed down," he answered.
She nodded and told Minhyuk to come and help her. She called out to the Ai named Luca telling him to help collect supplies. Hoseok knew they couldn't take much. Hyunwoo came out as they were packing a bag with supplies. He was with their other member Kihyun. The younger man looked at Hoseok confused,
"Who is he?"
"Not now, help us get stuff together. Get food into the bag and water," Y/N said.
Hoseok wanted to talk to her, to explain what happened but there was no time. Even she was aware they had to move quick,
"One more thing, do you have a torch?" Hoseok asked.
"Yeah I think it's in the back." Hyunwoo said.
"Get it, you'll need it, trust me."
Y/N looked to Hyunwoo and nodded. Hyunwoo still seemed reluctant to follow anything that Hoseok was saying. It might've had something to do with the fact that he wasn't their captain, or that he didn't know him, perhaps it was because Hyunwoo was more than likely older than Hoseok and he hadn't been addressing him in that manner. Whatever the reason was, Hoseok didn't care, the goal was to get them back up to the volcano before night fell.
With everything packed and ready Hoseok took the lead to show them where to go. Y/N resorted to non verbal commands after telling them to just trust her. Hoseok could see something new in her eyes but it was something he couldn't place.
"As night falls we'll have to be very quiet, only follow me and stay in a line don't spread out."
Y/N nodded to him and the others followed behind. Hoseok was already worried because he could hear the noises of the creatures of the night waking up. He got a little worried, the blood red sky was already turning into the deepest black alive. Hoseok had his flashlight on to lead the way, the other members were pointing their lights to the ground. There was a screeching in the distance, it was a harrowing sound, it was loud and was followed by three more sounds.
"What the hell was that?"
He was pretty sure it was the one member that had just woken up from cryosleep. Hoseok turned and pushed a finger against his lips so they could see him. He saw Y/N looking at him and he could tell she was worried. He nodded his head forward so that they would continue following him. The sound came out again and even Hoseok's heartbeat began to pick up. They had to get back to the ship as soon as possible. They never came near the volcano. Despite it being inactive, it still emanated heat, enough for them to not want to come near it. They just had to get there.
Unfortunately, Hoseok had to slow down the pace, they may encounter other types of creatures on their way back. He had stopped going out at night because he kept encountering dangerous animals. The most dangerous ones were normally out at night. They were mostly afraid of the heat, that or it would repell them. However, none of the animals took refuge on the volcano. They kept going until Hoseok heard something that sounded like a rustling in the near by brush. He stopped moving and waited,
"Lights off," He whispered
"What?" One of them said.
"Just do it," Y/N bit at them.
Everyone turned off their flashlights and waited. The sound of footsteps came closer and then Hoseok could smell the stench from the animal. He could feel its breath just in front of his face. He tried not to swallow, he tried not to breathe. The creature huffed as if satisfied with knowing they were no threat and Hoseok listened for its large steps to walk away. These creatures could see them no doubt, their eye sight was meant to be for seeing in the dark but that also meant they were sensitive to light. If it had felt threatened, no matter how much light they had it would charge them like a rhino while also sending out a call to its family.
They waited a little longer before Hoseok had them start walking again. He thought to himself that he should've had them come earlier rather than packing supplies but she wouldn't have left without their other crew member. It wasn't in her nature. They were almost to the top when Y/N slipped. She scratched her leg, it was a minor flesh wound from what Hoseok could see, now that he had his flashlight back on but he didn't know what scratched her.
"What hit you?" He asked.
"I'm fine let's keep going."
"I need to know what scratched you, it could be poisonous."
"Then you better get me to a safe place where we can take care of it there," she said.
Her voice suggested that she didn't want to show any weakness in front of her crew and even more she didn't want him worrying over her. He sighed and ripped a piece of his shirt sleeve off and tied it tightly around her leg. Even she knew, it was just a precaution incase something deadly did get into her skin, it would at least be slowed by the lack of circulation.
Finally they made it to the top where Hoseok's ship had crash landed years ago. They couldn't see much as they approached but when Hoseok gave the command to Newton to open the hatch they saw the inside of his ship. It was clean, damn near spotless. Hyunwoo helped Y/N to a seat despite her saying she was fine to walk. Their Ai, Luca came over to analyze her cut. Hoseok watched as a green holographic light scanned her cut.
"There are no signs of toxic chemicals that have entered your blood stream. Administer an antiseptic and wrap the wound until it heals." It said.
"Thank you Luca," she looked from Luca to Hoseok.
Her crewmate Kihyun was coming over to her to apply antiseptic and bandage her wound. She thought he was dead so he knew there was going to be a lot of questions that she was going to ask. She looked a little more angry at him now before she looked away.
"So are you going to tell us who the hell you are?" Hyunwoo said annoyed.
Hoseok looked at him,
"My name is Lee Hoseok. I was a flight captain on this ship when our ship took damage in hyperspeed-"
"Hyperspeed? That happened to us." Minhyuk said.
"Where are your other crew members?" Hyunwoo asked.
Kihyun had stood up and was standing by Y/N at the moment, she still didn't seem to want to look at him. Hoseok looked down and said,
"They died. You'll be able to see where I buried them when day breaks again. Paradise has all sorts of dangerous creatures but for the most part it's safest to move about during the day light hours. From what I've gathered there's only six hours of night here so the nocturnal animals go on a huge hunting spree when night falls. The creature we encountered on our way up I call an Agrosaur. As long as they don't feel threatened they won't try and attack."
"What is Paradise?" Kihyun asked.
"It's just what I call this place, mainly because of the colors that the sky changes."
Y/N scoffed, without looking at him she said,
"Is that why you call it Paradise?"
"I know this is all new to you and I know you're upset-"
"Upset? Is that what you think I'm feeling Hoseok?" She stood up, " You haven't begun to understand how this feels."
Hoseok could see it in her eyes that she wanted to cry but that she refused to do so. She didn't cry, not really anyway. If she did it was where no one could see her. It was because she was a street rat with something to prove...they both were.
"I thought you were dead! For ten years, I had to mourn your death only to find you here on Paradise." She snapped at him.
"Ten years? That can't be, it's only been four maybe five years since we landed here."
She stepped up to him angry,
He felt so bad.
"Why didn't you come home? Why didn't you send a distress signal out? The ship looks like it's in good enough shape so why not come home?" She said pissed.
There was an audience and a lot that she didn't know. Not just about their crash, not just about the ship but about Luxarion itself. He wanted to hug her, he wanted to do something to ease the pain. She would be angry then she would hold it all in and do her job. She always said she couldn't afford to be a street rat in the business of white coats. His silence just made her annoyed, she rolled her eyes and walked back to Luca's side.
"The sleeping pods are in the back. We'll be safe here. Sleep tonight and we'll talk in the morning," he looked Y/N in her eyes, "I promise."
She looked away from him again and he led them to the sleeping pods. He wasn't sure she was ready to hear the truth about Luxarion but hiding the details would make her hate him more.
He'd tell her tomorrow, that his accidental crash landing wasn't an accident at all and it's possible their crash wasn't one either....
Shall we date Kpop?
