ds106 Digital Storytelling

Makerspaces don't always need tangible supplies! This open online course has some amazing resources if you want to explore ways students can create online. This site has an assignment bank of over 400 projects. You can choose from 3D printing, animated GIFs, audio, visual, mash-ups, etc. The Daily Create section features a daily challenge that doesn't involve a big time commitment. This could be a great jump-start for weekly challenges in the library. Post your weekly challenge on the library webpage, or by the computers in your library, then highlight student entries on the website or post in the library. I love the emphasis on digital storytelling, and I bet a lot of students will, too. I also love the possibilities of collaborative storytelling, or creating stories for younger students--just take a look at the site, and I'm sure your creative spark will ignite, too!

I run a middle school library, in the golden age of children's and young adult books! There is not enough time in the day to read all of them, but I will share what I can.
