Wake Up Without a Stiff Neck – How to Avoid Neck Pain

Invest in a good memory foam mattress as well. Memory foam technology follows the contours of the body by “memorizing” your body’s heat. You can better provide the support that your body needs while you sleep with these kinds of mattresses.


A memory foam pillow can also be a good addition to your sleep setup. This can also effectively improve the posture of your neck when you sleep.


Go for a semi-firm mattress and firmer pillow so that you can get the support that your neck needs. It’s also important to mind your posture while sleeping. Avoid sleeping on your stomach because that can twist the neck in an odd direction as well.

4. Avoid carrying heavy objects


Subjecting yourself to heavy loads can affect the neck as well. It can put a strain on the neck. When you are carrying something heavy, don’t put all the weight on the upper body because you will most likely hurt your back, shoulders and neck. Rather, distribute the weight to the knees. Put whatever you are carrying closer to your center of gravity.

A massage treatment also helps. It can improve circulation and reduce strain on the muscles.
