Bollywood Celebrities Who Did Not Charge A Penny To Play Their Roles

The high fees of Bollywood celebrities have become a subject of discussion since the film industry started forming. Furthermore, the recent news of stars raising their prices due to superhits has made it the producer's primary role to assure that their films are financially sound before casting a famous celebrity.

On the other hand, actors are often compassionate; they can show their humanism by not charging a single penny for performances they dedicate considerable time to.

Following the same path, here are a few actors that did not charge any money for their roles:

Amitabh Bachchan- Black

It's strange to conceive that a great actor like Big B charged no money for his performance. Sanjay Leela Bhansali's direction was superb, and what we saw was undoubtedly one of his best films.

Amitabh Bacchan wrote a blog on the 12th anniversary of the film in which he stated that he only wanted to work with Mr Bhansali. However, when the opportunity presented itself in Black, he was so overwhelmed that he refused to collect any fees for the film because simply being a part of it was enough for him.

Deepika Padukone- Om Shanti Om

She is the highest-paid actress in the industry right now. She did, however, make her debut for free! Om Shanti Om was the film that kicked off her career, but she also had the opportunity to work on Shah Rukh Khan's production and feature with him. So, as a result, she completed the film for free.

Farhan Akhtar and Sonam Kapoor- Bhaag Milkha Bhaag

Farhaan Akhtar and Sonam Kapoor both charged a small fee of Rs.11 for their respective roles in the biopic of India's great Flying Sikh, Milkha Singh.

Shahid Kapoor- Haider

Shahid Kapoor is one of the actors who did not charge any money for his role in Haider. According to sources, the film director, Vishal Bharadwaj, did not charge fees. This was done to relieve the film's weight, which already had a big budget to put together a cast and magnificent action sequences.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui- Manto

Nawazuddin Siddiqui charged a modest fee of Re. 1 for Manto, which was critically acclaimed in the industry. However, Rishi Kapoor, Javed Akhtar, Gurdas Maan, Rajshree Deshpande, Ranvir Shorey, and Swanand Kirkire, among others, chose not to charge anything for their performances in the film.
