The Artificial "Afterlife" in Transcendence

Will humans one day live on after death through computers? I'm a huge Johnny Depp fan, so when I heard about him being in a movie about artificial intelligence I was 100% sure I wanted to see this movie. I don't mean for this to be a movie review, but instead a commentary on Hollywood's depiction of artificial intelligence and how humans and computers interact in the future. This movie gives a dark point of view of AI (which isn't new). The computer system created in this movie is so smart that it can even heal people, but how far is too far? There comes a point where the whole world is in danger. (I don't want to give away too much in case you want to watch it!) Johnny Depp basically becomes a computer after death in this film...which I thought was a crazy idea. Can you imagine being on your death bed knowing you will live on through a computer? I would not want that... Will technology ever reach this point? I know there are limitations, such as laws against cloning...I think you could argue this could fall under that. What do you think? Have you seen this movie and have any thoughts to share?

I love learning about technology and how it's changing the world.
