A massive clash on Friday as playoff chasing Portland take on a strong Salt Lake side. Salt Lake will have their star man, MLS all-time clean sheet leading Nick Rimando in net after his USMNT appearance versus Honduras. Portland are looking to hunt down Vancouver, who are coming off a shaky but still convincing win against Seattle to hold onto the Cascadia Cup for another year. Portland's loss here could eliminate them if Vancouver beat bottom of the Western Conference San Jose on Saturday. Real Salt Lake are in a different position. Already booked into the post-season they sit in the final knockout round bye with no chance of moving up. FC Dallas are on their tail only a point back. The hope for a team that once held the top spot in the west this season in Real would be to lock in that 3rd place and avoid a potential semi-final against the Galaxy. Whatever happens, with 2 games to go this weekend could prove to hold one final plot twist in the MLS playoff picture.
