8 Little Things Every Runner Know To Be True

My girlfriend found this cool list on thoughtcatalog so I thought I'd share it here too. This is a collection of 'facts' that every runner knows well, in some cases far too well. Here are the 8 bits of knowledge: 1. We are creatures of habit — that’s why our grocery bills tend to ring up at the same amount every week. If you repeat the same action enough- if you willingly try at it - you’ll get better. Soon enough, that two-mile run may morph into a ten-mile jog! Test yourself — you don’t know what you’re capable of unless you try. 2. The hardest part is starting. Once you get going, all that negativity you had before you started clear away. It just takes a little push, but starting is half of the battle! 3. Before you quit, change something. It’s easy to think about quitting something, but most of the time, a simple adjustment is all it takes to re-spark that drive! 4. Make the ride as comfortable as possible. Find little things that you can do to make the process more enjoyable! (I have really awesome yellow socks that I wear on days that I don't feel like running) 5. Plan your day around your most taxing activity. By prioritizing your day, you can create an effective schedule that works in sync with your own energy levels. 6. Even those “self-motivated” people falter every now and then. Just as easily as you can convince yourself to do something, you can convince yourself out of it. That’s why it’s important to have something that keeps you on track, especially when you don’t feel like it. Even if its just an app, have someone else holding you accountable! 7. Take things one step at a time. Make every run a series of small victories, instead of one, long taxing event. Rather than thinking about the finish, think about the journey. 8. Goals are good, but they aren't everything. It’s great to set goals for yourself, but don’t be to upset with yourself when you don’t achieve them. Practicing forgiving yourself when you don’t reach your goals might be even more important than celebrating them when you do.

Hey, I'm Cole! When I'm not diving and running marathons (just finished Boston) I'm learning everything that I can about Blockchain. I've got a minor Kpop and Clash Royale addiction, and am never without a cup of coffee. Stanford proud!
