Why is Creed Frontman Now Broke?

Singer Scott Stapp, whom you may know as the frontman of the hit 90s band Creed, is in the headlines for reasons far different from what you usually see out of rock star scandals. He posted a video on his Facebook page (attached here) explaining why right now he is flat broke and living in financial hardship. It sounds like a truly terrible and unfair ordeal for Stapp if the details he lists are correct. Apparently 8 weeks ago an audit revealed that a lot of his money from Creed's glory days had been stolen and that he had never received a portion of his royalty payments. Furthermore, Stapp explains that the IRS has frozen his accounts "due to an unrelated clerical error," according to the New York Daily News. Stapp says in the video that he is relying on his Christian faith for strength to get through a very rough time. "Right now I'm living in a Holiday Inn, by the grace of God, because there's been a couple of weeks I had to live in my truck." He is vowing to find whoever is responsible and fight what is happening to him. Stapp also used the video to deny rumors of drug and alcohol use.
