Paris: Your Dream Winter Vacation

Paris is at its most Parisian in winter. I've only been to Paris in spring and fall, but it has been my dream to visit in winter! The low tourist season means some lower rates too! Several museums and monuments offer free admission on first Sundays (November-March)! When to Go: December-March! Several Christmas markets (including Champs-Elysées, Saint Germain des Prés, and Montmarte) remain open all the way through January 6! Where to Stay: November to February is low season, so it’s easier to find a room! Try AirBnb, or more intimate small hotels that would be more expensive in summer :) What to Eat or Drink: Les Papilles takes the stress out of ordering in French. The seasonal market menu is set daily, and offers delicious, fresh courses like potato leek soup, poached cod, and blue cheese and dates. The four course meal is $42, which adds to the comfort level. What to Watch: Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris (2011) was filmed entirely in the city. Cultural Tip: Indoor spaces like cafes or restaurants tend to be smaller in Paris than in the U.S. Instead of complaining about the tight quarters, embrace it! —and remember to use your “inside” voice.
