[17th-Dec-14] Match Preview: Spurs-Newcastle

Today, a Spurs side hunting another European berth will host a injury-stricken Newcastle at White Hart Lane. Spurs come into the game without striker Emmanuel Adebayor due to personal reasons, but with the rest of the squad match fit. Newcastle are without a slew of players including Tim Krul, Rob Elliot, Mehdi Abeid, Rolando Aarons, Ryan Taylor, Siem de Jong, and Gabriel Obertan all to injury as well as Daryl Janmaat, who is suspended. Steven Taylor and Moussa Sissoko are once again available for selection as Alan Pardew looks to reverse a bad history of cup competition at the Newcastle helm, a history even he himself admitted to as being poor earlier this week. In the end, I fancy Spurs to win this one. The injury on Newcastle's list leaves them at just half of the quality they possess and their cup record is rather unimpressive to a Pochettino side that needs to win silverware in order to keep him in the seat at the time being. Scrappy affair, but Spurs seal it. Spurs 1-0 Newcastle
