[30th-Dec-14] Daily Rumour Mill

Just two days now until the transfer window is open, so let's take a look at the big rumours making headlines. 1. Manchester City are reported to have enquired a price for Swansea striker Wilfred Bony. (Source: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/manchester-city/11318222/Manchester-City-approach-Swansea-over-30m-Wilfried-Bony-as-Manuel-Pellegrini-bids-to-boost-firepower.html) 2. Arsenal are considering a move for Sporting Lisbon's Carvalho. (Source: http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/417653/Arsenal-FINALISING-deal-to-sign-Manchester-United-target-William-Carvalho) 3. Norwegian prodigy Odegaard looks to snub a lot of the top clubs in England in order to sign for Southampton. (Source: http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/417731/Arsenal-Liverpool-Man-Utd-Martin-Odegaard-make-SHOCK-transfer-decision) 4. Alan Pardew has apparently returned to Newcastle's training ground to give his formal goodbyes to staff and players before joining Crystal Palace. (Source: http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/alan-pardew-makes-undercover-return-8363526) 5. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has touted the central midfield as an area he will focus on strengthening in the January window. (Source: http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/dec/30/arsene-wenger-arsenal-midfield-transfer-window) My Thoughts: 1. Interesting choice and would be a buy that announces City's aggression in catching Chelsea. 2. Very keen move for Arsenal. Carvalho has some real talent and he won't be at Lisbon for long. 3. Would be a massive, shock move for the Premier League but a really great one for Southampton. 4. Well with all the talk building the move up, it's to no surprise he would take the deal even though the news hasn't broken yet making it official. 5. I'm sure Arsenal fans are banging their head against a wall here. Don't get me wrong, they could use some more dynamic pieces in central midfield, but the centre-halves are what they need right now. Not midfield.
