The story takes place 5 years after the events of Paranormal Activity 2, when Katie killed her sister, Kristi, and her sister's husband, Daniel, and took their baby. Alice and her mother become aware of some strange occurrences in the house now that their new neighbours, Katie and Robbie, have moved in next door.
