It was a tie unlike any other tie. The FA Cup produced another classic two days ago as West Ham and Everton entertained the masses in their 3rd Round Replay. The first half saw many chances including one for Everton's Kevin Mirallas and West Ham's Enner Valencia. Valencia would then score on a good play that included a brilliant feed from Andy Carroll. Aiden McGeady then added to Everton's problems with two bookable offenses to be sent off with over half an hour to play in normal time. Kevin Mirallas then equalized on a good free kick in the 81st minute to help send the tie into Extra Time, where striker Romelu Lukaku netted to put the Toffees ahead 2-1. Sam Allardyce then brought on Carlton Cole in the 111th minute before he would score 2 minutes later to ensure penalties. In the shootout, Kevin Naismith would see his shot stopped by a superb save from Adrian before Stewart Downing's chance to seal the win for West Ham was blocked by Everton counterpart Joel Robles. The shootout then continued until Robles stepped up in the 10th round only to hit the bar, allowing West Ham keeper Adrian to net his penalty in cool style to send the Hammers into the FA Cup 4th Round. The match had everything: controversy, a sending off, teammates arguing, rough fouls, brilliant goals, great atmosphere, and a penalty shootout. The 50/50 split in possession was the telling story to the entire tie but after losing their last 3 penalty shootouts, it was West Ham's day. West Ham travel to League 1 leading Bristol City in the 4th Round next weekend.
