News broke today that FIFA have opened an investigation of 51 transfer signings by Real Madrid. The investigation is apparently spurred on thanks to Madrid's signing of Odegaard just this past week, and Madrid are now under the spotlight for poentially violating the under-18 transfer rules. Those rules dictate that players may only transfer clubs from a different country if one of the follow rules applies: 1) The kid's parents move or have moved there for non-football reasons. 2) if they are from another country in the EU and aged 16-18. 3) The kid lives within 100km of the club he is transferring to. While the Odegaard transfer is more than likely fair play, the White's youth system could take a toll if FIFA finds any violations and decides to come down on the club for them.
