It's Official! 'The X-Files' is Returning to FOX for Six New Episodes!

After much speculation, it seems that the wait is over. FOX has officially announced today that popular sci-fi series "The X-Files" is finally making its big return to television after being off the air for 13 years! The news was confirmed in an official press announcement made by "X-Files" creator Chris Carter and Dana Walden and Gary Newman, Chairmen and CEOs of Fox Television Group (and producers of the original series).

Both Fox Mulder and Dana Scully (played by David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson) are confirmed to be back for the six episodes that the network has ordered thus far.

"Few shows on television have drawn such dedicated fans as THE X-FILES, and we're ecstatic to give them the next thrilling chapter of Mulder and Scully they've been waiting for," FOX announced in a statement. "The good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories."

Production is set to begin sometime this summer. Further details remain under wraps and will be announced at a later date.
