[11th-Apr-15] Match Preview: DC United – New York Red Bulls

Midfielders Markus Halsti and Collin Martin will be out due to injury alongside forward Eddie Johnson and Defender Steve Birnbaum while midfielder Nick DeLeon is a game-time decision. The New York Red Bulls only have two injury concerns as defenders Roy Miller and Ronald Zubar are considered doubtful after a knee sprain and hamstring niggle respectively.

Head-To-Head

DC come into the match on consecutive wins after their 1-0 win against Orlando last Friday after a goal from a free kick in stoppage time meant that for only the 5th time in MLS history one side has won 2 consecutive games with stoppage time goals.

New York head into the game off a 2-1 win at Columbus and striker Bradley Wright-Phillips has tallied a goal and an assist in his last two games for the Red Bulls. The rivalry match that bars with it a trophy, the Atlantic Cup, has already run out one result this season, a 2-0 win for New York at Red Bull Arena. Last season, the home team won all 3 games between the sides, keeping a clean sheet in the process. The two then met in the MLS Cup Playoffs, with the home teams again prevailing as the New York Red Bulls eventually advanced 3-2 on aggregate.

Prediction: This is always a tough match to call, but I think the home form will continue as DC have started the season impressively.
