Diet drinks can make you gain weight instead!

These days, people show a preference towards consuming artificially sweetened drinks which are known to be healthier and least likely to cause weight gain. As such, carbonated drinks such as "Coke Zero" have emerged in the market. However, similar to the tongue, our small intestines have receptors which are able to sense sugar or articificial sweeteners, hence allowing the absorption of these sugars into our body. This explains why turning to artificially sweetened foods does not necessarily result in weight loss. This discovery was made by Professfor Soraya Shirazi-Beechey of the Faculty of Veterinary/Science at the University of Liverpool. Whether it's real sugar or artificial sweetener, what works the best is to really cut down on your sugar intake level!
