Tostones are typically made as a side dish -- or even as a snack. They are super easy to make. You have two types of plantains - green plantains (tostones) and sweet plantains (maduros). You're going to use the plantains that are not yet ripe, they will be green. You'll need to buy the GREEN plantain.
What You'll Need:
1 Green Plantain Vegetable oil Salt
How To Make It:
1- Unpeel your plantain and chop 2-inch rounds 2- Use a pan. Add about 2-3 inches of oil. Make sure the oil is hot (medium-high heat) before adding the chopped plantains. 3- Fry plantains for about 3-5 minutes -- until soft. 4 - Remove plantains from oil. Drain plantains with paper towels. 5 - Fold aluminum foil in half. Lay your plantain chunk in between the two sides. Press plantain down with the bottom of a glass cup. 6 - Fry 2-3 minutes longer or until golden brown. Oil must be hot. Flip plantains occasionally. You may season with salt. :)
