E3 News: Sony

Day Zero of E3 wrapped yesterday, and already, the expo is off to a strong start. We saw some really great conferences from Bethesda, Microsoft, and Sony. Exciting news has been delivered as the leaders in the gaming industry square off with these conferences.

I want to talk about Sony specifically. Sony had a great conference, with plenty of exciting announcements to talk about.

The Last GuardianLast Guardian

With this earth-shattering announcement opening Sony's conference, it set a confident and expectant pace for the rest of the showing.

The Last GuardianHorizon: Zero DawnKillzoneGuerilla Games.

Moving forward, No Man's Sky showcased some gameplay footage, demonstrating a little bit of the scope of the game and some of the exploration elements. This game has me optimistically skeptical, with its massive scale and seemingly endless amount of solar system and planets. they say that it's possible that some planets will go entirely unexplored, and that level of scale seems crazy to imagine. No release date yet, but we should expect one soon.

Final Fantasy VII

To me, this was the perfect example of Sony's raw confidence. As a developer, they now have all the means to look back at one of their most storied games and elect to finally remake it. FF7 is a game that we have all played, probably more than once, and now we will play it again in HD. This is true fanservice.

Naughty Dog's Uncharted 4

Needless to say, I'm going to be spending a lot of time on Playstation 4 in the next couple years. Now I just need to get one of those...
